Spiced Holiday Pear Dip

I’ve always associated myself as more of a summer person. I like summer's low maintenance lifestyle and any excuse to be in the water and the sunshine.

But, each year I’m falling more and more in love with the month of December. I love receiving cards from my friends and family, the excuse to bake, the less-crowded gym during my workouts, and the new and old traditions associated with the season. The past few years, Evan and I have gone to the Glendale Theatre’s annual holiday play and I’m so excited for this year’s line up.

We have a few other holiday parties on our horizons, and I plan on taking this Spiced Holiday Pear Dip (below).

This week, I’m also teaming up with Way Better Snacks and Patricia Chuey for an upcoming Twitter party on Thursday. We’ll be tweeting all things holidays! I hope you can join!

Spiced Holiday Pear Dip

This dip feels special enough to serve at a holiday cocktail party with a side of Brie and crackers, but also pairs nicely as a topping on pancakes or ice cream, stirred into oatmeal, or eaten by itself!

Ingredients
2 pears, chopped into small pieces
juice of ½ a lemon
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1 vanilla bean
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon cornstarch

1.     In a small bowl, combine the chopped pears, lemon juice, cinnamon, vanilla bean, and nutmeg. Stir until well mixed.
2.     Pour ingredients into a small saucepan and cook over medium heat. Add honey, and continue to cook until pears begin to soften and release their juices.
3.     Add cornstarch and stir. Remove from heat, and serve (with Way Better Snack Sweet Potato Tortilla Chips).

Enjoy, preferably with those you love.

  1. I'm a summer girl too but I do like the mood that December brings (it's just downhill after that - ha!) Love this pear dip and the idea of serving with Brie. Pears are way underrated in my book when it comes to holiday festivities :)
